New Delih June 10,(V7N)- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the foreign dignitaries who attended his swearing-in ceremony, affirming India’s commitment to collaborative efforts for human progress.
“I am grateful to all the foreign dignitaries who joined the swearing-in ceremony. India will always work closely with our valued partners in pursuit of human progress,” Modi stated on his verified social media handle, X (formerly known as Twitter).
In honor of the visiting leaders, Indian President Droupadi Murmu hosted a banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among the attendees were President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives, Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda of Nepal, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
President Murmu officially appointed Narendra Damodardas Modi as the Prime Minister of India. Following his recommendation, she also appointed the members of the Council of Ministers, who took their oaths of office and secrecy during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Sunday evening.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the first distinguished guest to arrive for the ceremony, was warmly welcomed at the New Delhi airport by a high-level Indian delegation and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Md. Mustafizur Rahman.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs noted, “This visit of one of our most valued partners will further strengthen Bangladesh-India close and deep-rooted bonds of friendship.”
The presence of the foreign leaders at Modi's swearing-in for his third consecutive term underscores India’s commitment to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision. The visiting dignitaries included President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives, Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Nepal, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to depart New Delhi for Dhaka on Monday evening, with her arrival in Dhaka expected at 8 pm.
