Baghdad, July 4, 2024 – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) has declared that it will enter into conflict against Israel and its ally, the United States, if Israel invades Lebanon. The organization has also announced preparations for war.

An unnamed IRI field commander told the French news agency AFP on Wednesday that if Israel launches a full-scale aggression against Lebanon, the IRI will respond with relentless attacks. The commander mentioned that IRI has already deployed military experts and advisors to Lebanon.

Iraq's political scientist Ali Baidar warned that a war between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah would not be confined to Lebanon. He suggested that all armed organizations in Iraq and the region would be drawn into the conflict.

In the past eight months, the IRI has conducted numerous attacks across the occupied Palestinian territories in solidarity with Gaza's Palestinians. Notably, the organization fired a cruise missile at a critical target in Haifa, Israel, last Tuesday.

In addition to IRI, groups such as Yemen's Houthi rebels, the Hamas government in Gaza, and Iran have pledged their support to Hezbollah. These groups have vowed to continue their attacks on Israel if the situation in Gaza does not improve.

The escalation follows a significant military operation launched by Hamas on October 7 of last year, prompting Israeli airstrikes and ground attacks on Gaza. The assault has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 100,000 injuries, predominantly affecting women and children.

In response to these events, various political organizations across the Middle East, including those in Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen, have declared war on Israel and continue their attacks in protest of the ongoing situation in Gaza.
