Munshiganj, Dec 22 (V7N) — At least 10 vehicles, including a bus, collided in dense fog on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar, Munshiganj, early Sunday morning. The accident claimed the life of a bus driver, Farhan Hossain, and left several others injured.

The collisions occurred around 4 a.m. along a three-kilometre stretch from Sholaghar in Srinagar to Chalti Para. Witnesses reported that the pile-up began with two cargo trucks colliding, followed by a bus crashing into another bus. A pickup van also ran over a private car during the chaos.

Srinagar Fire Service Station Officer Dewan Azad Hossain said, "Heavy fog caused reduced visibility, leading to multiple collisions. At least 15 people were injured. The road remained closed for about an hour while rescue operations were conducted."

Two of the injured were taken to the Srinagar Health Complex, where bus driver Farhan Hossain succumbed to his injuries. The bus helper, Zakir Hossain, was transferred to Midford Hospital for further treatment.

Hansara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani stated that the police and fire services were working to clear the damaged vehicles and restore traffic flow. He added, "Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by excessive speeding combined with poor visibility due to dense fog."

This incident serves as a reminder for motorists to exercise caution while driving in foggy conditions to avoid such tragedies.
