Pabna, Sept 3 (V7N) – A woman and her young daughter were killed and her husband critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a truck in the Faridpur upazila of Pabna district on Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:30 AM in the Demra Chakchakiya area, according to Faridpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasnat Zaman.

The deceased were identified as Aulia Khatun, 25, and her seven-year-old daughter, Sumaiya, residents of Charpara village in Chatmohar upazila. They were riding on a motorcycle with Aulia's husband, Sohel Rana, 28, who was injured in the crash and later hospitalized. Sohel is the son of Akkas Ali.

According to police, Sohel Rana was returning home in Chatmohar from Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, traveling with his wife and daughter by motorcycle. When they reached Demra Chakchakiya, their vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming truck. The impact killed Aulia and Sumaiya on the spot.

Local residents rushed the severely injured Sohel to Faridpur Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to Pabna General Hospital for advanced care.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter. OC Hasnat Zaman confirmed that the bodies have been taken into custody and will be handed over to the family following legal formalities.

The tragic accident adds to growing concerns over road safety in Bangladesh, where high-speed travel, poor road conditions, and limited enforcement of traffic laws contribute to frequent and often fatal accidents.
