Michigan, Sept 21 (V7N) – A Bangladeshi woman, identified as Namita Samaddar, 56, was killed in a road accident on Tuesday (September 16) morning in Niles, Michigan. The incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and South Third Street.

According to police, Namita was crossing Third Street when a mini truck turning right from Broadway struck her. She sustained a severe head injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver, a 59-year-old male resident of Niles, was behind the wheel of the truck. Authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation.

Namita was born on November 10, 1968, in Allar Dorga village, Meherpur district, Bangladesh, to the late Gopal and Sutangini (Mandal) Biswas. She grew up alongside her siblings, Palu Biswas, Lili Bairagi, Neyoti Biswas, Kishore Biswas, and Somita Roy, who are mourning her untimely death.

On May 3, 1992, she married Dilip K. Samaddar in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Together, they built a life in the United States and raised four sons. Despite enduring the tragic loss of their son Akash, Namita remained a pillar of strength and love for her surviving children—George (Alisa), Alfred (Emma), and Dixon Samaddar.

Professionally, Namita was a nurse, admired for her compassion and dedication. She was also an active member of the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. Outside her profession and community work, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and Bible study, often leading others in faith through online gatherings.

Family members and friends remember her as a woman of kindness, selflessness, and deep love, who always put others before herself.

A memorial service honoring Namita’s life will be held on Sunday, September 21, at 4:00 p.m. at the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church, with a visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 410 Hill Street, Dowagiac, Michigan. Arrangements are being managed by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.

Her passing has left a profound void, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
