Dhaka, Oct 24 (V7N) — At least 12 people, including a mother and daughter, were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in seven districts across the country on Friday.

According to police, two people were killed and at least 10 others injured when a tourist bus plunged into a ditch in the Pagla Bazar area of Shantiganj upazila, Sunamganj, early this morning.

The bus, belonging to Sejuti Travels, was carrying officials of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation Limited (BCIC) and their families from Dhaka to Tanguar Haor. The deceased were identified as Manjura Akhter and her daughter Ayesha Siddika. The injured have been taken to local hospitals.

In another accident, two people died and five others were injured when a truck rammed into a parked bus in the Pulia area of the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway in Faridpur around 3:30 am. Police said the bus had been stopped on the roadside after an earlier accident when a truck hit it from behind, crushing two people to death on the spot.

Meanwhile, three people, including the driver of an easy bike, were killed when a bus hit the vehicle on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in the Rainadi area of Madhabdi, Narsingdi, late Thursday night. Police said the easy bike was crossing the road when the speeding bus struck it. Two passengers died instantly, while another succumbed to injuries en route to Dhaka for treatment.

Elsewhere, two motorcyclists were killed when a sand-laden trolley hit them in Chaugachha, Jessore, on Friday morning. Additionally, three more people lost their lives in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Lalmonirhat, and Bagerhat districts.

Police said the bodies in all incidents have been recovered and legal proceedings are underway.
