Gazipur, Nov 11 (V7N) — At least seven shops were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out in the Konabari Pukurpar area of Gazipur city early Monday. The fire service estimated the damage at around Tk 30 lakh.
According to fire service officials and locals, the blaze started at a Khokon Lep Toshak shop around 1:30 am and quickly spread to adjacent shops. Locals initially tried to douse the flames before two units of the Konabari Modern Fire Service arrived and brought the fire under control after about one hour of effort.
Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector at the Konabari Modern Fire Service, said the fire is believed to have originated from an electrical short circuit.
