Mongla, Dec 14 (V7N) – Maksudur Rahman Harun, a 47-year-old member of BNP from Ward 6 of Mongla Municipality, died on Saturday around 5:00 pm after being hit by an e-rickshaw near the Workers’ Union area.

Eyewitnesses reported that Harun was returning from the town to his home at Komlar Mor when the e-rickshaw collided with him in front of the union building. He was thrown against a nearby wall, suffering a fatal head injury. Locals immediately rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex, where Medical Officer Mousumi Yasmin pronounced him dead.

Harun was the younger brother of Mahbubur Rahman Manik, General Secretary of Mongla Municipality BNP. Professionally, Harun worked as a deck foreman for stevedoring company Ahmad & Co., responsible for supervising dock workers.

Sheikh Shahinur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mongla Police Station, confirmed that the e-rickshaw and its driver, Jahangir Morol, 35, have been detained. A formal case is currently being processed regarding the incident.

The accident has caused shock and grief among local BNP leaders and the community, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in the area.
