A devastating fire engulfed at least 80 shelters and several shops within the Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, on Friday morning.
 
The incident occurred at Thaingkhali Rohingya Camp No. 13, located in the Palongkhali union of Ukhiya upazila, around 11 am local time.
 
Shamsud Douza Nayan, Additional Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Refugee Relief and Repatriation Office, confirmed that seven units of the fire service from Ukhiya, Teknaf, and Cox's Bazar district headquarters swiftly responded to the scene to contain the blaze.
 
Efforts to control the fire were successful by around 12:30 pm, Nayan added.
 
Authorities including the APBn, police, Red Crescent, and various organizations immediately initiated rescue operations and commenced investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
