A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, June 8, when a crocodile attack claimed the life of 55-year-old Mosharraf Gazi in the Sundarbans. The attack happened in the Gajalmari canal area of East Sundarbans in Mongla (Bagerhat). Locals later recovered Gazi's body from a dense forest nearby.
 
Three other individuals, Sekandar Mallik (25), Jakaria Sheikh (45), and Gourapada Mandal (44), managed to escape by swimming across the river to adjacent districts. All four men were from Purba Dharamari village in Dakope upazila, Khulna, which is connected to the Sundarbans.
 
According to Mohammad Azad Kabir, an official at the Sundarbans Wildlife Reproduction and Tourism Center in East Sundarbans, the attack occurred while Gazi was returning from the forest during the prohibited period of honey collection. The crocodile struck around 1 pm near a canal in Gajalmari. After three hours, at approximately 3 pm, locals found Gazi's injured body in the dense forest area of Dakope upazila.
