Sirajganj, Sep 07 (V7N) - In Sirajganj, a tragic accident on the Bangabandhu Bridge has claimed the lives of three people, including a father and his son, when a bus collided with a truck. Eight others were injured in the incident.

The accident occurred on Saturday, September 7, at approximately 5:15 AM near Pillar 13 on the Dhaka-bound lane of the Bangabandhu Bridge.

The victims have been identified as Roiz Uddin, the son of Saffar Dilar from Ibi Road in the city; his son, Ripu; and Chandra Shekhar, the son of Sushanta Shaha from Banabaria village in the sadar upazila.

According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Kader Jilani of the Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, the Dhaka Express passenger bus, traveling from Sirajganj to Dhaka, lost control and crashed into the rear of a truck near Pillar 13 at 5:15 AM. The front of the bus was extensively damaged, resulting in the immediate deaths of three passengers. Eight others sustained injuries.

The OC reported that rescue operations were promptly carried out, with the deceased and injured being transported to Sirajganj's Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. The damaged bus was removed, and traffic on the bridge was restored. However, the truck involved in the accident fled the scene shortly after.

Dr. Faisal Ahmed, the emergency department doctor at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, stated that the bodies of the deceased have been placed in the morgue, and the injured are receiving initial medical treatment. Of the injured, three are in critical condition and have been admitted to the hospital.
