In a significant move to promote Ufshi Aush cultivation, Nangalkot upazila has launched an incentive program benefiting 6,500 small-scale farmers with free agricultural inputs for the upcoming Kharif-1 season.

Nangalkot upazila has embarked on an ambitious drive to bolster Ufshi Aush rice cultivation by distributing free seeds and fertilizers to 6,500 small and marginal farmers. This initiative is part of a broader incentive and rehabilitation scheme aimed at enhancing the district’s agricultural output during the Kharif-1 season.

The local administration has ramped up its support for farmers, substantially increasing the incentive package to encourage wider adoption of Ufshi Aush farming practices. The distribution ceremony was officially inaugurated by Nangalkot Upazila Chairman Samsuddin Kalu, who also took part in handing out the agricultural aids to the farmers.

The event saw the participation of key figures including Municipal Mayor Abdul Malek, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, and other dignitaries. They joined in solidarity with the farming community, emphasizing the government’s commitment to agricultural development.

According to Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazrul Islam, the support package includes five kilograms of Ufshi Aush seeds, ten kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), and five kilograms of Muriate of potash (MOP) per farmer for each bigha of land. This generous provision is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on farmers and stimulate increased production of the high-yielding Ufshi Aush variety.

The remaining seeds and fertilizers are slated for distribution shortly, ensuring that all registered farmers can take advantage of this program and contribute to the region’s food security and economic prosperity.
