In a great agricultural achievement, the Habiganj district is set to collect a remarkable 6.1 million 177 thousand 725 maunds of Aman rice this year, with an approximate market worth of 7.64 billion. According to the Habiganj Agricultural Extension Directorate, the growth of young trees has taken place on a total area of 88,258 hectares in nine upazilas of the district. The process of collecting crops has started in Madhavpur, Chunarughat, Nabiganj, and Lakhai regions. Ashek Parvez, an instructor at the Habiganj Agricultural Extension Department, mentioned that the initial types of rice in Haor are being gathered at the beginning of the Ropa Aman season. The areas that were previously used for growing Boro rice are currently being harvested, making up 15 percent of the total rice harvest. Estimates indicate a possible production of 244,709 tons of rice in the area, based on a calculation of 1.3 metric tons per hectare of land. This is equivalent to a grand total production of 6.11 million 177 thousand 725 units. The paddy price set by the government is Tk 1200 per maund, but the current market rates range from Tk 1050 to Tk 1150 and keep changing. Although the government has set a specific price, the total production value in Habiganj district, as per the official rate, is calculated to be approximately 734 crore 12 lakh 70 thousand taka. This significant output represents an important achievement for the farming sector of Habiganj.
