New York, Sep 25 (V7N) Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser in Bangladesh’s interim government, introduced his special assistant, Mahfuz Alam, as the key figure behind the recent student-led movement aimed at ousting the Awami League government. The announcement was made during an event at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, held alongside the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Addressing global leaders, including former US president Bill Clinton, Nobel laureate Yunus spoke about the previous government's violent crackdown on student protesters. He praised the bravery of the students who stood firm despite facing live bullets.

Yunus introduced Mahfuz Alam, along with two other companions, as representatives of the movement for a new Bangladesh. He called Mahfuz the "brain of the whole revolution," though Mahfuz modestly emphasized that the movement had been a collective effort.

Dr Yunus highlighted the movement’s strength, attributing its success to its leaderless structure, which had made it more resilient against government retaliation. He commended Mahfuz's leadership and dedication, expressing hope that young people around the world would draw inspiration from his actions.

Yunus urged the audience to support these young leaders in their quest for a new Bangladesh, concluding his speech with a request for prayers for their success. The audience, including Clinton, responded with applause.
