DHAKA, July 05 (V7N) – The highly anticipated white-ball tour of Bangladesh by the Indian cricket team, originally scheduled for August 2025, has been officially postponed to September 2026. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the decision on Saturday, stating that it was a mutual agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The postponement of the three-match ODI and three-match T20I series has been attributed to "international calendar constraints and scheduling convenience for both sides," as stated by the BCB. However, sources indicate that the series was already under doubt due to broader considerations, including diplomatic tensions between the two nations following recent political developments in Bangladesh, particularly the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024. Logistical and security concerns also appear to have played a role in the decision.
BCB President Aminul Islam had previously hinted at the potential postponement, noting that the series' progression was contingent on clearance from Indian authorities and finding a suitable slot within a packed international cricket calendar. The BCCI had also been awaiting approval from the Indian government for the tour to proceed.
With the deferral now formalized, Bangladesh will have to wait more than a year to host their cricketing neighbors in a bilateral white-ball series. The BCB expressed its enthusiasm despite the delay, stating, "The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series." Revised dates and fixtures for the tour are expected to be announced at a later time.
