The president MD. Sahabuddin mentioned that the activities of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force should be accelerated to build a developed, prosperous and 'smart Bangladesh'.

He said this in a message given on the occasion of the '76th founding anniversary and 44th National Rally of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force' on Monday (February 12).

The President said that Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces are the largest disciplined and people-oriented forces in the country. Since its establishment in 1948, Ansar Bahini has played an important role in all the needs of the country, including the great language movement, the liberation war.

At this time, he paid deep respect to the heroic Ansar members who sacrificed themselves for the protection of law and order at various times including the Great Liberation War.

Md. Sahabuddin said that Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces are playing an important role in maintaining law and order and public safety in the country. The members of this force are diligently performing their duties in the security of various important government installations, Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant and various public development projects and private installations and institutions. Along with the traffic police, Ansar members also play a commendable role in resolving the traffic jam. Apart from this, the members of this force have been performing their duties bravely in dealing with various natural and man-made disasters. In addition to regular training, this force is working to create skilled human resources and create opportunities for self-employment by providing free technical training to youth and women in various professions. By 2041, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the implementation of a developed and prosperous 'Smart Bangladesh', the activities of this force must be accelerated.

The President expressed the hope that all the members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces will always be engaged in the development, progress and public safety of the country in the construction of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla, inspired by the spirit of the great liberation war and the great ideal of service. At the same time, he wished the success of the programs undertaken on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary and 44th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces.
