Dhaka, Oct 01 (V7N) – General Officer Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser on Home Affairs, has expressed optimism that this year's Durga Puja, a major Hindu festival, will be celebrated more smoothly and better than in previous years. He shared these remarks following a law and order meeting held at the secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Acknowledging concerns about the current security situation, Jahangir Alam stated, "The current law and order situation is not good, but it will improve day by day." He assured that necessary actions would be taken against police officers who have not yet reported for duty and mentioned plans to appoint additional police forces, including Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), to ensure security during the festival.

He further noted improvements in the situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, mentioning that while some groups had not surrendered their weapons after the peace treaty, efforts are being made to enhance the region's security. The adviser also emphasized that security will be provided to religious shrines during the festival period to ensure the safety of devotees.

The government is committed to making the Durga Puja celebrations peaceful and secure, with heightened vigilance and additional forces in place across the country.
