Dhaka, Oct 03 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has ordered the closure of key waterways in the coastal regions of the country due to deteriorating weather conditions. The announcement was made through a press release on Thursday morning.

According to the release, local warning signals have been issued at seaports, and hostile weather conditions have been observed in coastal areas. Due to heavy rolling in rivers, the decision has been made to suspend waterway operations for the safety of passengers and property. The closure will remain in effect until further notice.

The affected waterways include the Dhaka-Hatia, Dhaka-Betua, Dhaka-Khepupara, Dhaka-Charmantaj, Dhaka-Rangabali, and Dhaka-Manpura routes.

BIWTA emphasised that this precautionary measure is in place to protect the safety of passengers and property, and the waterways will be reopened once conditions improve.
