Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- The inaugural phase of the 2025 Bishwa Ijtema is set to take place from January 31 to February 2 at the Turag riverbank in Tongi, while the second phase is scheduled for February 7-9. This announcement was made by Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury following a meeting with two factions of the Tabligh Jamaat at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

During the meeting, representatives from the Maulana Saad Kandhalvi faction were present, while those from Maulana Zubair's faction did not attend. The adviser mentioned that it has not yet been determined which faction would conduct its gathering first.

Discussions during the meeting covered a range of logistical topics, including the transfer and preparation of the Ijtema grounds, security arrangements, visa processes for international attendees, ensuring a continuous power supply, building floating bridges, emergency disaster plans, provision of hygienic food, and traffic management for the final prayer day.

Since its inception in 1967, the Tabligh Jamaat has hosted the Bishwa Ijtema on the expansive grounds along the Turag River, located 22 kilometers north of Dhaka. In 2011, the event was divided into two phases to better manage the growing number of participants.
