Dhaka, Nov 11 (V7N) — Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, embarked on a three-day official visit to Azerbaijan on Monday to participate in the COP-29 climate conference. His delegation departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 11 am.
Press Secretary Shafiqul briefed the media, detailing the Chief Advisor’s schedule from November 11 to 14 in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku. Dr. Yunus is expected to engage in multiple forums at COP-29, where he will advocate for Bangladesh, highlighting the nation’s climate-related challenges and its pressing needs as a vulnerable country facing significant environmental threats.
The Chief Advisor will emphasize Bangladesh’s proactive measures in addressing global climate issues, showcasing its leadership and commitment to sustainable solutions. He is also slated to meet with key international figures attending the conference.
This marks Dr. Yunus' second international mission since assuming his role as Chief Advisor on August 8, following his participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Before departing, Dr. Yunus inaugurated a dedicated lounge at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for migrant workers, reinforcing his support for Bangladeshi expatriates.
