Tangail, Nov 13 (V7N) — Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud emphasized his commitment to bringing government services closer to the people, stressing the need to diminish the distance between the bureaucracy and citizens. Speaking to reporters after visiting the grave of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani in Tangail, Mahmud shared his vision of a more accessible administration dedicated to serving the public.

Mahmud stated, "Bureaucrats were appointed as servants of the people, but have often maintained a distance. We will work to bridge this gap so that government officials are readily available and respond to the people's needs without asserting dominance."

Highlighting the country’s underutilized sports infrastructure, Mahmud noted that Bangladesh's stadiums are in a state of neglect. He announced plans to renovate existing stadiums rather than constructing new ones, following recommendations from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Reflecting on Maulana Bhashani’s legacy, Mahmud said, "Maulana Bhashani paved the path for resistance. His spirit will continue to inspire our journey, as the struggle he championed remains unfinished."

Advisor Mahfuz Alam, also present, added that the interim government represents the people's mandate. He expressed confidence that citizens will assess the advisors’ work, pledging to investigate any complaints. "Maulana Bhashani's vision for this country is our guide, and we aspire to fulfill his dream for Bangladesh," Alam remarked.
