Dhaka, Nov 13 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Army has recovered more than 6,000 illegal firearms and arrested over 2,500 individuals as part of its efforts to bolster security following the student-led uprising that led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
Colonel Intekhab Haider Khan, the Colonel Staff of the Directorate of Military Operations, revealed these details at a press briefing held at the Officers Mess-A of Army Headquarters. During the briefing, he outlined the Army’s role in the ongoing 'In Aid to Civil Power' operations.
He highlighted that army personnel are currently deployed across 62 districts, working in coordination with the interim government, relevant ministries, law enforcement agencies, local authorities, and various organizations to maintain law and order. The army’s mission includes safeguarding the lives of citizens, protecting critical infrastructure, and securing key public and private institutions.
