Dhaka, Nov 18 (V7N)- The term of the interim government in Bangladesh may be less than four years or less, said the chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus. In the interview, besides talking about the crises that Bangladesh is facing due to the impact of climate change, Dr. talked about the ongoing reform process in Bangladesh, the upcoming elections, diplomatic relations under changing conditions and relations with the newly-elected Donald Trump of the United States. In the interview, when the next election can be held in Bangladesh and how long the term of the interim government can be, the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, 'We are the interim government. We are not a permanent government. The regular government is for 5 years. The term of government in the new constitution is likely to be four years. Because people want shorter term of government. So it (term of interim government) should be less than four years, that's for sure. It may be less. It all depends on what the people want, what the political parties want. He said, "If the political parties want it, forget it (reforms), hold elections." Then it will be done.
In response to the question, whether he will stay for four years as the head of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said, 'I did not say that I will stay for four years. As I said, it can be the maximum term. He also said, our purpose is not so many years. The main objective is to arrange early elections after completing the necessary reforms. We are working towards that goal.
