Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – Acting Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Nardia Simpson has reaffirmed Australia’s dedication to promoting gender equality and addressing gender-based violence in all forms.

As the world marks the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence," representatives from the Australian Federal Police, Detective Superintendent Matt Craft and Detective Sergeant Scott Dixon, visited Dhaka last week to conduct inquiries related to the unconfirmed death of a Bangladeshi-Australian woman, the Australian High Commission stated on Saturday.

Detective Superintendent Craft described his meetings with the Bangladesh Police as productive and commended the level of engagement. He highlighted the recent renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding on police cooperation between Bangladesh and Australia as a testament to the strong bilateral relationship.

The Australian representatives, including Acting High Commissioner Simpson, attended an event alongside Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S. Murshid and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Mamtaz Ahmed, to inaugurate the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" campaign.

Simpson expressed her honor in meeting Adviser Murshid and Senior Secretary Ahmed, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts between Bangladesh and Australia to combat gender-based violence.
