Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – Amid heightened diplomatic tensions between Bangladesh and India, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain expressed optimism about fostering a positive relationship with India, while acknowledging the changes brought about after August 5.

“We want to remain optimistic that we will be able to establish a good relationship with India, ensuring that bilateral interests are safeguarded,” he said on Saturday.

The adviser made these comments while addressing a roundtable titled “Bangladesh-India Relations: Expectations, Barriers, and Future,” organized by the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) and the Department of Political Science & Sociology (PSS) at North South University.

Hossain mentioned that while Bangladesh has some concerns, certain issues remain unresolved, despite efforts by the previous government to address India’s interests. He expressed belief that India would progress with an understanding of the altered situation but recognized that challenges are a normal part of any relationship. “There has been a change in relations since August 5. This is the reality,” he stated.
