Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N)- Environment, Forest and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan has announced that noise pollution control rules will be finalized by the end of December 2024. Additionally, 10 designated areas will be declared silent zones through an awareness campaign to be conducted in January 2025.
Speaking at a noise pollution control awareness and driver retraining program in Gulshan on Friday morning, Advisor Rizwana Hasan emphasized the detrimental effects of noise pollution on public well-being and the challenges faced by traffic police. "Stop honking your horn not out of fear of jail or fines, but at least for the sake of your children," she urged.
She acknowledged the immediate impact of reducing public suffering but highlighted the complexity of improving air quality quickly, stating that it remains a long-term challenge.
Call for Reforms and Reflection on Political Progress
Rizwana Hasan also touched upon broader national issues, pointing out that the interim government has initiated reforms in response to public demand. Regarding elections, she indicated that the Chief Advisor would announce the schedule in due course.
Raising critical questions about the nation's progress, she asked, "Why have political parties failed to reform the state even after 53 years of independence?"
The advisor’s remarks underline the urgent need for collective responsibility in tackling environmental and governance challenges while advocating for sustainable change.
