Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N)- Dr. Asif Nazrul, Legal Advisor, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the ideals for which countless people, including martyred intellectuals, sacrificed their lives. Speaking at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur on Saturday, he called on the youth to honor this legacy and ensure the dreams of a just, democratic, and exploitation-free Bangladesh are realized.

“Our July Uprising was a continuation of the dreams, convictions, and patriotism that inspired the martyred intellectuals to embrace the struggle,” Dr. Nazrul stated. He highlighted the role of youth and students in fighting for democracy, human rights, and an equitable society, even at the cost of personal comforts and aspirations.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made in 1971, Dr. Nazrul lamented the inability to fully realize the envisioned Bangladesh. "After the sacrifices of many, including the intellectuals, we failed to build the Bangladesh of our dreams. It was jeopardized by a one-party mindset and leadership failures," he said.

Dr. Nazrul stressed the importance of learning from past mistakes to avoid repeating them. "Today, the youth have been given another chance to rebuild the country in the spirit of those sacrifices. We must ensure this opportunity is not wasted," he urged.

The gathering at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial served as a solemn reminder of the responsibilities borne by the younger generation to carry forward the vision of a democratic and just Bangladesh.
