Dhaka, Dec 15 (V7N)- Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has directed the police to intensify patrols, particularly during late-night hours, with the aim of eliminating robberies. Simultaneously, Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud emphasized heightened vigilance to prevent any attempts to disrupt law and order during the upcoming significant days.

The directives were issued during a meeting of the Law and Order Committee at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

Robbery Prevention and Increased Patrols

Highlighting the issue of robberies, Lt. Gen. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “Robberies typically occur late at night. We have instructed the police to enhance their patrols during these hours to reduce such incidents to zero.”

The meeting also reviewed security measures for upcoming events, including Victory Day on December 16, Christmas on December 25, and New Year’s Eve on December 31. Preparations for the Tablighi Jamaat Ijtema were also discussed, with assurances that the event will follow the same arrangements as last year.

Crackdown on Disruptive Elements

Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud announced that law enforcement agencies have been directed to take strict actions against individuals attempting to create unrest. He stated, “A wider campaign has been initiated to arrest those evading law enforcement, particularly individuals with pending cases or those engaged in efforts to disrupt public peace.”

The advisors assured that the government remains committed to maintaining peace and order across the country during these critical days, underscoring a zero-tolerance approach to criminal activities and disturbances.

The enhanced security measures reflect the government’s focus on ensuring public safety and stability during a period marked by national celebrations and significant gatherings.
