Dhaka, Dec 16 (V7N)- The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized a victory rally on Monday, commemorating three pivotal events in Bangladesh's history: the Partition of 1947, the Liberation War of 1971, and the Mass Uprising of 2024.
Rally Details and Route
The rally commenced at 12 noon from the Shaheed Minar and moved through the Dhaka University area before returning to its starting point. The front row of the procession was led by individuals injured in the July Uprising, symbolizing their pivotal role in recent movements. Behind them, portraits of iconic leaders from the Partition era, such as Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, and Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, were prominently displayed.
The rally's banner carried the slogan "Azadi-47, Muktijuddho-71, Swadhinata-24", signifying the continuum of struggles for freedom and equality. Participants also chanted slogans, including "Your country, my country; Bangladesh, Bangladesh" and "Delhi not Dhaka; Dhaka Dhaka", emphasizing sovereignty and unity.
Participation and Leadership
The rally witnessed a significant turnout, with a notable presence of women and participation from leaders and activists representing various units of the movement across Dhaka’s universities, colleges, and madrasas. Central convener Hasnat Abdullah, member secretary Arif Sohel, and executive committee member Mahin Sarkar led the event, underscoring the movement’s growing influence.

Before the rally's commencement, students, activists, and members of the public began assembling at the Shaheed Minar from 10 am in smaller processions.
