Dhaka, Dec 17 (V7N) — Former minister Obaidul Quader remained in the country for three months following August 5, a fact the government was unaware of at the time, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He stated that had the authorities known, Quader would have been arrested immediately.

The advisor made these remarks during a press briefing on Tuesday following a special meeting of the Dhaka Division Law and Order Committee.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury also revealed that communication with Interpol is ongoing to bring back former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to face justice. He mentioned that any individual accused in the murder case would be arrested as soon as credible information is obtained. Furthermore, he claimed that Sheikh Hasina had already sent 16 MPs from her family out of the country.

Reassuring that innocent individuals would not face harm despite ongoing legal proceedings, the advisor asserted that the morale of the police force had been restored after the meeting.
