Cairo, Egypt, Dec 20, (V7N) — During the D-8 Summit on Thursday, the Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein Al Sheikh, met with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, to discuss ongoing Palestinian struggles and reaffirm Bangladesh's stance on Palestinian independence.
In the meeting, the Chief Adviser expressed Bangladesh's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people's pursuit of an independent state. “The entire country is united behind the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom,” Professor Yunus declared, highlighting the solidarity of Bangladesh with Palestine.
Hussein Al Sheikh acknowledged Bangladesh's strong support and expressed gratitude for Professor Yunus' powerful speech at the summit, which called for greater international backing for Palestinian causes. Al Sheikh also appreciated Yunus for raising awareness on the challenges faced by the Palestinian people.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Chief Adviser presented a copy of "The Art of Triumph," an art book that features wall graffiti and murals from the July mass uprising in Bangladesh, to the PLO leader. This symbolic gesture underscored the shared values of freedom and resilience.
Dr. Ziad Abu Amer, an Executive Member of the PLO, was also present at the meeting. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral ties and ensuring continued global support for Palestine's right to self-determination.
