Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N) — The Advisory Council has formally adopted a condolence resolution mourning the death of Civil Aviation, Tourism, and Land Advisor AF Hasan Arif. The resolution was passed during a special meeting held at the office of the Chief Advisor on Sunday.
The condolence motion was introduced by Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Hasan and was unanimously accepted by the council members. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the late advisor at the beginning of the meeting.
Rizwana Hasan announced that AF Hasan Arif would be laid to rest next to the grave of Bir Shreshtha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 23.
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus paid heartfelt tribute, saying, "He always reminded me that we were the same age. He had a childlike simplicity and was always present to resolve conflicts. This wonderful man has left us too soon."
Finance and Planning Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed described Hasan Arif as a rare personality who was always smiling.
Jute Textiles and Shipping Advisor M. Sakhawat Hossain shared his deep sorrow, reminiscing about their professional relationship, and called Hasan Arif a positive inspiration.
Sharmeen Murshid, Advisor for Social Welfare and Women and Children, added, "We developed a beautiful relationship with him during our time working together. His absence will be deeply felt."
Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan recalled Hasan Arif's work as a lawyer and his dedication to human rights, highlighting his role as the founding vice-president of Odhikar.

Energy Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan highlighted his role as a unifier in a divided society.
Chittagong Hill Tracts Advisor Supradeep Chakma acknowledged his contributions to the 1997 Peace Accord.
AF Hasan Arif was praised for his role in organizing the participatory election of 2008 and his tireless dedication to his duties. His passing is regarded as an irreparable loss to the council and the nation.
Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Civil Aviation Secretary Nasrin Jahan, and Land Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed also expressed their condolences during the meeting.
The nation mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant who left a lasting impact on those who worked with him.
