Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N) — More than 1 million taxpayers have voluntarily filed their income tax returns online for the 2024-2025 tax year, the National Board of Revenue (NBAR) announced on Monday. Simultaneously, over 1.6 million taxpayers have registered for the online return filing system since its launch on September 9.

In a press release, NBAR highlighted the overwhelming response to its user-friendly online tax filing system, available at www.etaxnbr.gov.bd. Taxpayers can now file returns, download receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates seamlessly through this platform.

To further facilitate the process, taxpayers can make payments and reconcile taxes via internet banking, debit/credit cards, and mobile banking. Round-the-clock support is also being provided through dedicated call centres and email assistance.

The e-return registration process has been enhanced for convenience. Taxpayers need a biometric SIM linked to their national ID to register. The linkage can be verified by dialing *16001#.

For those unable to obtain a biometric SIM due to fingerprint issues, NBAR has implemented special measures to ensure they can register and file their returns without difficulty.

NBAR has urged all taxpayers to take advantage of the streamlined system and file their returns by the extended deadline of January 31, 2025.

This move towards digitisation reflects NBAR's commitment to simplifying tax compliance and fostering greater participation among taxpayers nationwide.
