Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during a visit to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Dr. Yunus laid a wreath at the portrait of Dr. Singh, who passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 due to age-related complications. Following this, he penned a condolence message in the book opened at the High Commission to honour the late Indian leader.
During his visit, Dr. Yunus engaged in a brief conversation with the Indian High Commissioner, reflecting on his personal connection with Dr. Singh. He described the late Prime Minister as a "simple yet profoundly wise" individual and reminisced about their long-standing friendship.
India is currently observing seven days of national mourning to honour Dr. Manmohan Singh, a distinguished economist and statesman who served as India's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has joined in the observance, hosting memorial events to pay respects.
Dr. Yunus’s tribute underscores the deep bond between the two nations and the personal relationship he shared with the revered Indian leader.
