RAJSHAHI, March 26, (V7N) — Rajshahi City Corporation marked the Independence and National Day with solemnity and enthusiasm on Thursday. The celebrations began at 6:04 am with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Martyrs’ Monument on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Honorable Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the Liberation War. Present at the ceremony were key officials of the corporation, including Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Superintending Engineer (Acting) Ahmed Al Moin Parag, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Md. Noor I Sayed, Budget cum Accounts Officer Shafiqul Islam Khan, Executive Engineers Mahmudur Rahman, Subrata Kumar Sarkar, Nilufar Yasmin, ABM Asaduzzaman, and other senior officers and employees.

In addition, the Rasik Karmachari Union paid homage to the martyrs with a separate wreath-laying ceremony, attended by Union President Md. Shakil and other leaders.

The national flag was hoisted at the City Hall, ward offices, and other corporation-controlled establishments at sunrise. Prayers for the peace, prosperity, and progress of the nation were organized at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship. Major roads and traffic islands across the city were adorned with colorful flags to mark the historic day.

The program reflected Rajshahi City Corporation’s commitment to honoring the memory of the Liberation War martyrs while celebrating Bangladesh’s independence with dignity.
