Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N) — Lutfe Siddiqui, the Special Envoy of the Interim Government's Chief Advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has called on British business leaders, including those of Bangladeshi origin, to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh. Speaking at a meeting with the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI) delegation at the Chief Advisor's residence, Jamuna, on Saturday, he highlighted the government's ongoing reforms to attract foreign direct investment (FDI).

The delegation, led by UKBCCI Chairman Iqbal Ahmed OBE and President MG Maula Mia, is on a three-day visit to Bangladesh. They also held discussions with Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus prior to the meeting.

During the session, Lutfe Siddiqui outlined the positive developments in Bangladesh’s macroeconomic landscape, including improvements in exchange rates, foreign reserves, exports, and port handling efficiency. He emphasised the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment through labour reforms and administrative enhancements.

Addressing queries from the delegates on topics such as the ready-made garment sector, law and order, and ongoing reforms, Siddiqui reassured the business leaders of the government's openness and transparency. "We are open for business. We are eager to answer your questions. Please keep asking them. Please keep visiting to see for yourself. If you like what you see and hear, please help spread the word," he urged.

The event also saw participation from prominent figures, including Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chairman Ashiq Mahmud Chowdhury, SDG Senior Secretary Lamia Morshed, and UK Member of Parliament Rupa Haque.

The meeting is expected to bolster UK-Bangladesh trade relations and encourage further investment from British business communities, particularly those with Bangladeshi heritage.
