Dhaka, Jan 10 (V7N) — Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan emphasized equality and inclusivity in Bangladesh, stating that "no one in the country should feel deprived." He made this remark at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a crematorium allocated for Buddhists in Uttara, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon.

The advisor highlighted the contributions of people from all religions during the July uprising against injustice, asserting that collective cooperation is essential for the nation’s progress and reforms.

Religious Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain, who was also present at the event, acknowledged the lack of funeral facilities for Buddhists in Dhaka even after five decades of independence. "The interim government has taken the initiative to address this issue," he said.

The crematorium will be constructed on 23 kathas of land within the premises of the Buddhist Mahavihara in Sector 16, Uttara. The religious advisor added, "This step reflects our commitment to ensuring dignity and inclusivity for people of all faiths."

The project has been welcomed by the Buddhist community as a significant move towards acknowledging their cultural and religious needs in the capital.
