Dhaka, Jan 13 (V7N) — Former cadet sub-inspectors (SI) of the 40th batch of the police have resumed their sit-in protest in front of the Secretariat, demanding reinstatement into their roles. The protesters gathered on Abdul Gani Road near gates one and two of the Secretariat from 10 am on Monday.

The dismissed cadet SIs have called for reconsideration of their cases, citing the example of those excluded from the gazette in the 43rd BCS being reviewed. They vowed to continue peaceful protests until their demands are addressed.

"Despite assurances from Home Secretary Namimul Ghani during our meeting last week, no concrete steps have been taken to resolve our situation," said one protester.

The protesters, dismissed on charges of breaching discipline during their training at the Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, claim they were wrongfully discharged. Over 321 cadet SIs were dismissed in four phases before their passing-out ceremony.

"We trained for a year, sacrificing so much with minimal pay, only to be dismissed right before we could become regular employees. It’s a grave injustice," one former cadet SI said.

They argue that the disciplinary allegations were unfounded and unprecedented in the academy’s history.

The protesters urged authorities to take swift action to restore their jobs, emphasizing their readiness to serve as disciplined members of law enforcement.
