Dhaka, Jan 29 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor (retired) Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has strongly condemned the killings of Bangladeshis at the border by India's Border Security Force (BSF), stating that such incidents are "unacceptable in any way." He affirmed that this issue would be the primary topic of discussion in the upcoming BGB-BSF Director General level meeting.

Speaking to reporters at the Home Ministry on Wednesday, the advisor stressed the need to restore mutual trust between Bangladesh and India. "The BGB-BSF meeting will prioritise stopping border killings and ensuring that barbed wire fences or any construction within 150 yards of the border line follows regulations," he said. He also highlighted concerns over false news about Bangladesh being published by the Indian media, which would be addressed in the discussions.

The meeting will also focus on preventing the smuggling of drugs, arms, and ammunition from India into Bangladesh. Other key issues on the agenda include the balanced distribution of water from transboundary rivers, implementation of water agreements, and reopening the mouth of the Rahimpur Canal.

The 55th BGB-BSF Director General level meeting is scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India, from February 17 to 20.
