The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication, and Information Technology has unveiled a comprehensive plan for 'Smart Bangladesh' during its first meeting with the parliamentary standing committee of the ministry at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Chaired by committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the meeting was attended by committee members including State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Md Abul Kalam Azad, Mahbub Ur Rahman, Abdullah Nahid Nigar, Abu Saleh Mohammad Nazmul Haque, and Md Siddiqul Alam.

According to a press release from the parliament secretariat, the meeting emphasized the need for all service and business organizations under the ministry to take visible steps towards profitability by June 30 of this year. Discussions also centered around reviewing existing laws, rules, and guidelines, with the possibility of amending current laws or enacting new ones if necessary.

A comparative analysis of the achievements of various initiatives such as Bangladesh High Tech Park, Startup Bangladesh Limited, Bangladesh Data Centre Company Limited, and the telecommunication sector was presented during the meeting.

Acting secretaries from the Posts and Telecommunications Division and the Information and Technology Division, along with senior officials from the ministry and the Jatiya Sangsad secretariat, were also present at the meeting.
