Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, currently on official business in Turkey, is scheduled to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah on Tuesday. The purpose of the meeting is to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

The decision for Hasan Mahmud's participation follows his recent engagement at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, where he highlighted the urgent need for collective action to end the violence in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha will address the opening session of the meeting, which will be preceded by a preparatory senior officials meeting (SOM) on Monday to finalize the agenda and work program.

This meeting comes in the wake of the extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic Summit held in Riyadh last November, during which significant decisions were made to address Israeli aggression against Palestine.

In a recent interview with TRT World, Hasan Mahmud expressed concern over the lack of substantive global intervention to end the conflict in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for concerted action to stop what he termed as "war and genocide."

Representing Bangladesh at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Hasan Mahmud emphasized the forum's potential to rally international support against the atrocities in Gaza.

The participation of Hasan Mahmud in the OIC meeting underscores Bangladesh's commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and advocating for peace and stability on the global stage.
