Dhaka, Feb 28 (V7N) – The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has officially published a gazette titled ‘July Warriors’, recognizing 1,401 individuals injured during the July-August uprising. The gazette, issued on Thursday (February 27) and signed by Deputy Secretary Haridas Thakur, categorizes the injured based on the severity of their condition, outlining financial aid and government benefits.

Categorization & Benefits

The gazette divides the injured into two published categories:

Category ‘A’ – Very Serious (493 people)

Individuals who cannot live without assistance even after medical treatment have been placed in this category. They will receive:

  • Tk 5 lakh as a one-time grant (Tk 2 lakh in 2024-25 and Tk 3 lakh in 2025-26).
  • A monthly allowance of Tk 20,000.
  • Lifelong medical treatment at government hospitals, including domestic and foreign treatment upon medical board recommendations.
  • Rehabilitation and work training opportunities.
  • Government-issued ID cards for access to various benefits.

Category ‘B’ – Seriously Injured (908 people)

Individuals partially dependent on others despite receiving medical treatment are included in this category. Their benefits include:

  • Tk 3 lakh as a one-time grant (Tk 1 lakh in 2024-25 and Tk 2 lakh in 2025-26).
  • A monthly allowance of Tk 15,000.
  • Work training & priority access to government/semi-government employment.
  • Government-issued ID cards for accessing benefits.

The full list of Category ‘A’ and ‘B’ individuals is now available on the ministry’s official website as of Friday (February 28).

Category ‘C’ List Yet to Be Published

The third category (‘C’) will include individuals who have fully recovered after treatment. However, their list has not yet been published in the gazette.

Previous Gazette on Martyrs

Earlier, on January 15, the government published a gazette listing 834 martyrs from the mass uprising. Financial assistance will be provided to their families, along with monthly allowances for the injured based on their categorization.

The government’s initiative aims to support the wounded ‘July Warriors’ and their families, recognizing their sacrifice in the struggle for democracy.
