Dhaka, Mar 05 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has uncovered a significant corruption scandal related to the Padma Bridge land acquisition. The agency has filed a case against 23 individuals, including two senior assistant secretaries, for allegedly embezzling nearly Tk 10 crore in compensation funds intended for land acquisition.

The case was officially filed at the ACC's Faridpur Integrated District Office on Wednesday (March 5).

According to the complaint, the accused individuals created fake records of government khas land, entrusted property, and other privately owned properties in the land acquisition process for the Padma Bridge project and other critical infrastructure projects. Through these fraudulent actions, the accused reportedly **embezzled a total of Tk 99.785 crore, conducting these transactions using 23 checks.

The development comes after the ACC's decision to reinvestigate the controversial Padma Bridge corruption case, which had been settled over a decade ago on December 31.

The case marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to combat corruption within major national infrastructure projects in Bangladesh.
