In response to fire safety concerns, Fire Service and Civil Defence officials, accompanied by Dhaka South City Corporation Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam, have taken action to seal off the Nightingale View building located in the Khilgaon area of the capital.

The sealing operation was conducted around noon on Tuesday, during which most of the restaurants within the building were found closed, with no employees present except for one establishment, Shawarma King.

Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam stated that thorough inspections were carried out on every floor of the building, including the roof, revealing significant vulnerabilities that warranted the decision to seal it off.

This action follows the recent sealing of the 11-storey Keari Crescent Tower in Dhanmondi by a mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation on Monday. Additionally, fines totaling Tk6 lakh were imposed on four establishments within Keari Crescent and Rupayan ZR Plaza by the mobile court.

These measures come in the wake of the tragic Bailey Road fire incident, which claimed the lives of 46 people, prompting intensified efforts by police, city corporations, and Rajuk to conduct raids on unauthorized restaurants across different areas of Dhaka in an effort to enhance fire safety standards.
