Cox’s Bazar, Mar 14 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus visited the construction site of the Cox’s Bazar International Airport on Friday (March 14) afternoon, where he was briefed on the progress and latest developments.

Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) presented a summary of the airport’s status, informing him that 95% of the construction work is complete. The remaining work is expected to be finished by December 2025, after which the airport is expected to handle 40 to 50 flights daily.

Prior to this visit, Dr. Yunus and UN Secretary-General António Guterres traveled to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, which landed at 12:48 PM. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster Management, Farooq-e-Azam.

While Guterres visited the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia, Dr. Yunus inspected the airport construction site. Later, the Chief Advisor was scheduled to join the UN Secretary-General at the Rohingya camp.

In the evening, Dr. Yunus and Secretary-General Guterres will break their fast with approximately 100,000 Rohingya refugees in Ukhia. Following this, they will return to Dhaka together.

The Cox’s Bazar International Airport project is a key infrastructure development aimed at enhancing tourism and regional connectivity, with officials optimistic about its completion by year-end.
