Dhaka, Mar 19 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has outlined a five-point plan aimed at improving the welfare of police personnel working at the grassroots level. These instructions were given during a discussion meeting held on Wednesday (March 19) with the Home Affairs Advisor and other concerned officials.

The Chief Advisor's directives focus on several immediate actions designed to enhance the conditions and operational efficiency of police personnel. Among the key instructions are:

  1. Review of Risk Allowance – Dr. Yunus instructed authorities to remove the existing ceiling on the risk allowance for police officers, ensuring they are appropriately compensated for the dangers they face in the line of duty.

  2. Procurement of New Vehicles – The government has been tasked with the purchase of 364 new pickups and 140 prisoner vans to support police operations and improve logistical efficiency.

  3. Funding for Police Infrastructure – The Chief Advisor has ordered the release of funds for ongoing police construction projects that are below 70 percent completion. He also called for funds to be released for acquiring land to establish 65 police stations currently operating out of rented buildings.

  4. Motorcycle Loans for SIs and ASIs – The Chief Advisor instructed authorities to consider offering interest-free loans to Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) for purchasing motorcycles, which would enhance mobility and performance on the ground.

  5. Improvement of Performance Based on Work Results – Dr. Yunus emphasized the need for measures to improve the performance of officers with low work quality, based on the assessment of their results.

The Chief Advisor also addressed the preparation of the police force for the upcoming elections, directing officials to begin taking action immediately to ensure peaceful elections.

The meeting followed an earlier event on March 17, where Dr. Yunus met with grassroots police officers. During this meeting, officers shared their concerns and challenges, which were taken into account in the formulation of the latest instructions.

These steps are part of the government's ongoing efforts to improve police welfare and ensure the efficiency of law enforcement in maintaining peace and order.
