Dhaka, Apr 07 (V7N) – A wave of protests under the banner of the 'No Work, No School' movement swept across Bangladesh on Monday (April 7), as students, teachers, officials, and people from all walks of life united to denounce Israeli aggression in Gaza. The movement is being observed across major cities and educational institutions, with classes and exams boycotted in solidarity with Palestinians.
In the capital Dhaka, students from institutions including Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka University, BRAC University, University of Asia Pacific, Rajuk Uttara Model College, and Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) staged protests. Demonstrators gathered at symbolic locations such as Central Shaheed Minar, Raju Sculpture, Mirpur 10, and Uttara BNS Center, chanting slogans and holding placards condemning Israel’s actions and the silence of global powers.
The Principal of Dhaka Medical College expressed solidarity with protesting students at the Shaheed Minar, while Dhaka University students organized a ‘March for Palestine’ rally at 4 PM from the Raju Sculpture.
Elsewhere in the country, the strike gained momentum:

Barisal: Students boycotted classes, demanding justice for the genocide in Gaza. Social and political leaders joined them.

Rangpur: A mass rally at the District School intersection called for the declaration of an independent Palestinian state.

Jhenaidah: Emotional scenes unfolded during a protest march where two participants were seen in tears.

Tangail: Protesters marched through key points in the city including Nirala intersection, Battala, and Shaheed Minar.

Pirojpur: Teachers and students of PBST formed a human chain, suspending all academic activities.

Mymensingh: Protesters marched from the town hall intersection to Krishnachura Square, demanding justice for Gaza.

Satkhira: A sit-in was held at New Market Square following a protest march from Asif Square.
Protests were also reported in Rajshahi, Natore, and Lakshmipur, with participation from both students and the general public.
The organizers of the movement, including several student political bodies, have declared their full solidarity with Palestine and expressed support for the global initiative, 'The World Stops for Gaza.' With growing participation and public momentum, the movement marks one of the strongest nationwide student-led protest campaigns in recent years.
