Dhaka, Apr 15 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has clarified that he never mentioned keeping the government in power for five years, stating that it was the people who expressed this sentiment.

The Home Affairs Advisor made these remarks during a briefing after a meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Secretariat on Tuesday, April 15.

He emphasized that the chief advisor had already outlined the timeframe for when the elections could be held and added that he had no further comment on the matter.

Referring to the recent attack on Chittagong DC Hill ahead of the Boishakh celebrations, Chowdhury assured the public that the government would take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.

Earlier, while in Sunamganj, Chowdhury had told reporters that ordinary citizens had expressed their satisfaction with the current law and order situation, suggesting that the government should remain in power for another five years. This comment sparked widespread criticism.
