Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed has announced that a separate secretariat for the judiciary will be established soon. He made the statement while visiting the Supreme Court Reporters Forum (LRF) office on Wednesday (April 16) morning.
The Chief Justice noted that comprehensive verification is underway regarding the formation of the secretariat, and necessary proposals are currently being processed. Expressing optimism, he said the initiative will soon take a final shape.
Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed also mentioned that legal reviews are being conducted to identify and eliminate any constitutional barriers that might hinder the establishment of a separate judicial secretariat. He called upon lawyers and journalists to extend their cooperation in the journey toward an independent judiciary.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Justice inaugurated several new infrastructures on the Supreme Court premises, developed with the support of BRAC, aimed at easing access to justice for trial seekers. The Registrar General of the Supreme Court and other officials were present during the occasion.
During his visit, the Chief Justice also listened to grievances of lawyers, assured them of proper resolutions, and inspected various developmental infrastructures of the High Court division.
