Dhaka, May 16 (V7N) – The Election Commission (EC) has transferred eight senior officials, including the Director of the National Identity Registration Division (NID), as part of an administrative reshuffle aimed at streamlining its internal operations.
According to five separate transfer notifications issued on Thursday (May 15) by Md. Shahidur Rahman of the Human Resources Management Branch, the EC has reassigned officials to new roles across different branches and divisions.
As per the notification:

Md. Abdul Halim Khan, current Director of NID, has been appointed as Director of the Election Training Institute (ETI).

Md. Rafiqul Islam, the existing Director of ETI, has been made Regional Election Officer of Barisal.

Md. Anisur Rahman, Barisal’s Regional Election Officer, is now Deputy Secretary of the General Services Branch at the EC Secretariat.

Md. Saiful Islam, the previous Deputy Secretary, will now serve as Director of NID.
Additional transfers include:

Md. Rashid Mia, Deputy Director of NID, has been transferred as Additional District Election Officer of Comilla.

Abul Kashem Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Deputy Director of ETI, becomes Deputy Director of NID.

Md. Takdir Ahmed, Deputy Director of NID, is now Additional District Election Officer of Madaripur.

Salahuddin Ahmed, EC Deputy Secretary (Current Responsibilities), has been appointed as Deputy Director of NID.
It is noteworthy that Md. Rashid Mia and Abul Kashem Mohammad Mazharul Islam were also transferred on October 14 last year but had not assumed their new posts and remained stationed in Dhaka.
Speaking on the reshuffle, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said, “This is a routine administrative decision. The transfers will be implemented as directed. These changes are part of our regular administrative process and the Election Commission is responsible for ensuring they are enforced.”
The move is seen as part of the EC's ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, particularly ahead of upcoming electoral and identification-related activities.
